Muvo Bus Cards
Durban is a vibrant city with enormous potential and it is through the implementation of systems such as Muvo that Durban is able to develop and improve the way we inhabit the city.

Muvo Cards are a progressive step towards modernising the current transport system. The Muvo Card was launched in July 2012 and is a single smartcard that can be used across all three of Durban’s primary bus lines namely;

The Durban Transport, Mynah and People Mover busses. By loading trips users are able to travel to central and greater Durban areas using the interchanging routes travelled by these buses.

Durban Transport MUVO Bus

Since their arrival in July 1994, the Durban Transport buses have graced the Durban streets with their iconic green branding.

The buses were originally green with a white strip but have since changed to a white bus with a green branding.

The Durban Transport buses are also known as the Aqualine and have a fleet of over 460 buses that interchange between northern, southern and central Durban areas such as:

Umbilo, Berea, Mount Vernon, Bluff, Woodlands, Durban North, Chesterville, Shallcross, Lamontville, Umlazi, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu, Phoenix and Inanda.

People Mover MUVO Bus

The wide windows of the People Mover buses are the ideal design for sightseeing along their scenic routes around the Durban beachfront.

Operating since 2009 these distinct green buses have two main routes, the City Loop and the Bus Line.

The City Loop transfers passengers to and from the Dr Pixley Ka Seme transfer interchange, stopping close to City Hall, The Playhouse theatre,

Tourism Information Centre, Inkosi Albert Luthuli ICC Complex, the Victoria street market and Durban’s mosque and cathedral.

The Beach Line starts at Suncoast Casino and ends at uShaka Marine World. This route also runs through the interchange at Dr Pixley Ka Seme Street and transfers passengers to the City Loop route.

Mynah MUVO Bus

A lot has changed since the 50c bus fare first charged when the Mynah bus launched in November 1987.

The current fleet has 21 buses and services the areas just outside the Durban CBD such as Musgrave Road, Florida Road and Ridge Road.
