Coastal Aviation

Coastal Aviation was Founded by ingenious entrepreneur Nicola Colangelo, Coastal started in 1987 as an inbound operator offering “Personalized Safaris & Air Charters” to the tourism market which was very thin at the time.

The original Coastal fleet comprised of one Aircraft, a Cessna 206T and three beautiful large Dhows, a typical East African small sailing boat.

As the country experienced economic development, sailing to Zanzibar became a business for faster powered boats. Coastal Aviation decided to focus on the aviation side of the business but maintained the Dhow at sunset on the logo to remind us of our romantic beginnings

Today, Coastal Aviation’s versatile fleet comprises of 16 Cessna Grand Caravan C208B and 6 Pilatus PC-12/45.

Coastal flies daily to all essential tourist destinations in Tanzania and neighbouring East African countries, thanks to a wide network of interconnecting flights.

Their route schedule is specifically designed to connect with all major international inbound and outbound flights, allowing us to take you straight and smoothly to your safari destination.

Coastal Aviation Tanzania Service Line

With over 30 years of experience, Coastal is recognized for its extensive flying safari network, reaching 44 destinations and capable of accessing the remotest parts of the region.

Their flight plan differs from the typical point-to-point model adopted by major airlines: bush flying sometimes requires the need of stopping at several airstrips in order to serve even the most remote corners and secluded lodges.

This could result in a series of intermediate stops on the way to the final destination, hopping from one airstrip to another.

While they strive to deliver on their promise, “to transport guests to their destination in accordance with the prearranged itinerary”, they must clarify that the actual routing of the flight is always decided at the time operation.
